/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Armenian Prelature of Cyprus has announced
that the team of experts of the United Nations Development Program
(UNDP) ACT will present to the Armenian community of Cyprus the final
design for the restoration of the Turkish-occupied Church Complex,
including Surb Astvatsatsin Church, Armenian Prelature, Melikian
Ouzounian schools and adjoining areas, Gibrahayer magazine reports.
The team of experts includes Italian architects who specialize in
Venetian architecture and have been working on this project over the
last year, in cooperation with the Armenian Church of Cyprus.
As a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter came to know from Simon Aynedjian,
editor of Gibrahayer magazine, after the Turkish occupation Surb
Astvatsatsin remained in the Turkish part of Nicosia. "A program
on reconstruction of Christian churches in the Turkish part of the
island was adopted in the framework of endeavors for normalization of
relations between the Greek and Turkish communities," Aynedjian said.
