ArmInfo. US President Georgia Bush has send his condolences to the
Armenian with the 20th anniversary of the earthquake in Spitak.

President Bush, in particular, says: ‘Laura and I send our condolences
on the 20th anniversary of the massive earthquake that struck northern
Armenia on December 7 1988. This disaster took the live of nearly
25,000 people and left many thousands of others homeless.

On this solemn anniversary, we are reminded of the strong bonds between
America and Armenia and the resilience of the Armenian people. They
rose from this tragedy and have reclaimed a bright future of hope
and opportunity. Through hard work and support from the international
community, including the United States, the Republic of Armenia gained
its independence. Today, our national stand together, pursuing peace,
prosperity, and freedom for the citizens of our countries and the
world.

I join with my fellow Americans and all Armenians in commemorating
this national tragedy. We pay tribute to the live lost, and we send
our best wishes to Armenians throughout the world as you remember
loved one and the hardships you have overcome.

‘May God Bless you’, the US Embassy in Armenia reported.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
