ARMENIA FUND’S ACTING EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ASSESSES TELETHON 2008 AS BRILLIANT

During today’s meeting with journalists Acting Executive Director
of the Hayastan Fund Ara Vardanyan assessed Telethon 2008 as
brilliant. Armenia Fund’s 11th International Thanksgiving Day Telethon
broke another record by more than doubling last year’s result and
raising a total of $35,009,156. Thirty million was donated during a
dinner organized in Armenia.
This year the benefactors expressed the wish to gift the apartments
they built. According to Ara Vardanyan, the fund will execute control
over this process for the sum of the gifted apartments to correspond
to the sum announced.
As of November 30, 9 500 people donated 10 million AMD through HayPost.
Another 300 thousand was transferred directly to the Fund’s account.
According to the Acting Executive Director, the construction of the
Stepanakert Hospital has already started on the sum donated by Russian
benefactor Samvel Karapetyan. However, the Fund still has much to do
in Russia.
