"After August events freight transfers from Georgia to Armenia have
been reduced, but not as much to create problems. But the same can’t
be said for Russia, as they have been reduced by 25-30%," said the
Minister of Transport and Communication Gurgen Sargsyan during press
conference.
He rejected the news spread by the Russian media that Georgian party
did not allow to transfer Russian freight. "We have no problems
with the transfer of Russian freight. According to the contract,
goods are transferred from Georgia to Armenia," said the Minister.
Regarding the reconstruction of Yerevan-Batumi highway, the Minister
said that the financing will be done by the Georgian side. G. Sargsyan
mentioned that they don’t know when the reconstruction process will
be finished.
