A campaign to provide financial assistance to Meskhetian turks for
their return to Georgia has been launched by initiative of the Veten
association of Meskhetian Turks in Azerbaijan.

A round table with participation of the deputies of Milli Medjlis,
leaders of mass media and public figures was held on occasion of the
start of the project.

It was announced that a banking account NBC Bak ASC, VOIN 1700130681,
code 505345, account 0137010045944 have been created for everyone, who
wants, to transfer money to be used for construction of houses for the
people who returned to Georgia.

Speaking at the event, chairman of the Azerbaijan-Georgia friendship
parliamentary group Ganira Pashayeva noted that the law on
repatriation, adopted by Georgia, allows Meskhetian Turks only to
return to their lands, while it says nothing about the settlement of
the social problems of those who will return.

"Our people have always supported all who are in need. Now Meskhetian
Turks need this help for them to settle in their historical
lands. Azerbaijan is a country where they feel best of all.

National Leader Heydar Aliyev provided possible support to them, while
now president Ilham Aliyev also supports them. Money will go for
construction of houses, settlement of other social problems of the
Meskhetian Turks, who returned to their lands. Personally, I have
decided to transfer my deputy salary for January to the bank account
along with the other assistance", said she.

She noted that the number of the banking accounts will be posted in
the Turk-Network for Turks and Azerbaijanis, residing in the United
States, to be able to render financial assistance of Meskhetian Turks.

Deputy Agil Abbas reminded that Azerbaijan accepted Meskhetian Turks
in the hargest time of them, when Azerbaijani refugees came from
Armenia, along with internally displaced persons from the
Armenian-occupied Azerbaijani lands.

"Currently, Meskhetian Turks want to return to their lands and we must
provide them with any support. I think every deputy has to transfer a
definite amount of money to the banking account", said he.

Chairman of the parliamentary commission on social public Hadi Racabli
considered it important to appeal to the UN Commissariat for Refugees.

"World applies the practice of repatriation and the commissariat on
refugees have funds to render assistance. I think we, as a parliament,
must appeal to them with a request to assist to the return of
Meskhetian Turks to Georgia. We will need this practice, when it is
time to return Azerbaijani IDP to their lands", said he.

Deputy chairman of the parliamentary commission on issues of defense
and security Aydin Mirzazade referring to the history of deportation
of Meskhetian Turks from Georgia noted that Russian schovinists and
Armenians, who could say their word in powers, played a special role
in this issue.

"As is known from archive documents, Mikoyan played a special role in
this process. Now Meskhetian Turks are willing to return to their
lands, which proves their high level of patriotism. I also join the
initiative of transferring a definite amount of money to the banking
account by deputies", said he.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
