ARMTV, the Armenian broadcaster, has just announced their plans for
the selection of their next representative in the Eurovision Song
Contest 2009 to be held in Moscow.

This year Armenia will be holding a national final to select the
successor of Sirusho in the Eurovision Song Contest. The show will
be held on 14th February and it will be broadcast live on First
channel. The winner will be selected by a mixture of jury vote and
televote, very much like the new system introduced by the EBU for
the final of the contest.

Armenia debuted in the Eurovision Song Sontest in 2006 and has placed
in the top ten on all three occasions, peaking with Sirusho at 4th
place in 2008.

More details to be announced soon so stay tuned to esctoday.com.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
