ARTSRUN PEPANIAN: IN ORDER TO "CURE" ARMENIAN PEOPLE WE NEED TO AWAKEN ITS "GENETIC" MEMORY

"Today Armenian society is ill, and the political processes not cure,
but worsen its condition," political analyst Artsrun Pepanian stated
at the January 12 press conference. According to his affirmation, any
election, both national and local, instead of solving Armenian people’s
problems results in the aggravation of the public moral-psychological
condition. In consequence of all this, according to A. Pepanian,
society is disappointed in both pro-governmental and opposition forces,
which lose their rating.
According to A. Pepanian, the main reason of Armenian nation’s
problems "is the character formed because of the difficult way:
for more than one thousand years the Armenians lived without a
statehood, without authorities and policemen, existed almost thanks
to self-government." Reminding Garegin Nzhdeh’s words that "our main
task is to make the estranged Armenians a nation," he said that this
problem is more than topical at present. "An irrational environment
has been formed among us at present, which restrains our people’s
development and threatens its security," A. Pepanian said.
According to him, in order to solve the problem we should create
"a group of devotees," which is to work in the direction of raising
the national self-consciousness and self-appraisal. Besides classical
political scientists, "people aware of non-standard relations" should
be involved in the group without fail." According to A. Pepanian,
the group members should work out "a non-standard system of Influence
intended for attacking subconsciousness, which will have the goal to
awaken nation’s genetic memory." The speaker added that for instance,
inspiring slogans, rituals can be created, the images of kings uniting
the nation can be reminded for that purpose.
