Yerevan (Yerkir) – The issue of the relations with Armenia is not
a priority in Turkey because there are many domestic issues, Kiro
Manoyan, the director of the ARF Bureau’s Hay Dat and Political
Affairs Office, told a news conference on January 19.

He said that if the authorities continue the recent arrests in
connection with Ergenekon, Turkey would either destabilize or positive
changes would take place in the country, leading to improving the
relations with Armenia.

He said that the recognition of the Armenian genocide is a sing that
Turkey is changing.

Speaking of the campaigning initiated by Turkish intellectuals to
apologize for the Armenian genocide, Manoyan said that this campaign’s
goal is to avoid the word genocide and avoid the international
recognition of the genocide. Manoyan said he thinks the campaign was
initiated by certain circles of the Turkish government.

He also said that the possibility of depriving Armenia of voting
right in the OSCE stems from this organization’s position based
on both Armenia’s failure to fulfill its commitments as well as
political calculations.
