AMNESTY GRANTED TO 16 PEOPLE CONVICTED FOR PARTICIPATION IN MARCH 1 MASS DISORDERS IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, JANUARY 26, NOYAN TAPAN. On January 24, RA President Serzh
Sargsyan signed a decree on granting amnesty to 16 people sentenced
to 2-3 years’ imprisonment for participating in the March 1 events in
Yerevan, getting, selling, moving, carrying illegal arms, ammunition,
explosives, as well as using violence to a power representative. These
people are: Mkrtich Armenakian, Grigor Barseghian, Rafael Galyan,
Vardan Gasparian, Ashot Gyurjian, Aghvan Grigorian, Armen Grigorian,
Edik Grigorian, Mesrop Zakarian, Tigran Hakobian, Vahagn Hareyan,
Yurik Ghukasian, Artur Margarian, Garegin Petrosian, Mher Sargsian,
and Khachatur Stepanian.

As Noyan Tapan was informed by the RA President’s Press Office,
the decision on signing amnesty decrees was made in consideration of
appeals for mercy addressed to the RA President, as well as having
no previous convictions, circumstances of the criminal case, family,
health, and other circumstances.
