President Ilham Aliyev met in Budapest, Prime Minister of the Czech
Republic Mirek Topolanek, information state news agency AzerTaj
reported.
According to Ilham Aliyev, the cooperation with the Czech Republic
during its presidency of the European Union will also further expand
the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU. " Azerbaijan is
directly involved in the New Neighborhood Policy of European Union,
it contributes to the EU’s energy security, Azerbaijani gas is exported
to European countries", said the head of state.
President Ilham Aliyev pointed out the importance of Nabucco
project. He expressed confidence in further expansion of bilateral
relations with the Czech Republic. The President also noted that the
Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan, Armenia’s occupation of the
country create more obstacles to regional cooperation and security
architecture.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that the European
Union will actively participate in the speedy settlement of the
conflict. According to the Prime Minister, the Czech Republic
stands ready to contribute to the further expansion of cooperation
between Azerbaijan and the EU during the presidency of the European
Union and the closer integration of Azerbaijan into European
structures. "Our cooperation will develop in various fields. Czech
Republic is interested in it ", – said the Prime Minister of the Czech
Republic. Mirek Topolanek also spoke about the importance of Nabucco
project, described Azerbaijan as a country playing an important role
in the issue of energy security of Europe.
