RUSSIA AND ARMENIA HAVE DENIED REPORTS FROM BAKU ABOUT AN ARMAMENT
DEAL, AZERBAIJAN INSISTS ON INVESTIGATION INTO IT; The response of
Moscow that the accusations about the transfer of armament worth $800
million to Armenia are ungrounded do not satisfy Baku. The Foreign
Ministry of Azerbaijan states, "The investigation conducted about this
provides grounds for us to presume that information about transfer
of Russia armament to the Armenian side corresponds to reality."

The response of Moscow that the accusations about the transfer of
armament worth $800 million to Armenia are ungrounded do not satisfy
Baku. The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan states, "The investigation
conducted about this provides grounds for us to presume that
information about transfer of Russia armament to the Armenian side
corresponds to reality."

Along with this, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan points out that
this incident "contributes to continuation of occupation of the
territory of Azerbaijan by the Armenian party."

Baku demanded explanations from Moscow because of reports published by
the Azerbaijani mass media about the alleged free transfer of various
kinds of armament by Russian military unit N. 102 based in Gyumri to
the armed forces of Armenia. This information was supplemented with
a list of armament including 21 tanks T-72, 27 BMP-2, 12 BTR 70/80,
five BREM-2 (on the basis of BMP-1), four ZSU 23-4 Shilka, Strela
missiles, 875 cases of F-1 and RGD-5 grenades, 1,050 cases of antitank
grenades RKG-3/3 EM, 7,897 kinds of ammunition for various purposes
(122-mm rockets, 152-mm 2SZ, 122-mm D-30 etc), 120 40-mm under-barrel
grenade-launchers, 103 night binoculars NB-8, various kinds of mines
(TM 62 N/P, OZM-72; PMN), mortars of various modifications, five 100-mm
