State Minister Jean Ogassapian on Tuesday denounced the pre-dawn
attack on Harak Okian, a founder of the Free Lebanese Armenian Movement
(FLAM) and said identity of the assailants is known.
Ogassapian also urged police to arrest the assailants who opened fire
at Okian in Beirut’s predominantly Armenian district of Burj Hammoud.
FLAM sources said Okian was hit by a bullet in the spinal cord which
totally paralyzed him.
Ogassapian did not disclose identity of the assailants, but blamed
the attack on "some factions within the opposition."
But FLAM sources blamed the killing on a "local official of an Armenian
political party in Burj Hammoud."
