GALION — Galion Community Hospital welcomed a new physician to the
facility Jan. 12. Gohar Ghazarian, M.D., will share hospitalist duties
with Dr. Larry Leone, currently on staff.
Spending the last year em-ployed as a hospitalist at both Mount
Carmel Hospital in Columbus and at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital,
Dr. Ghazarian is familiar with hospital medicine, which is a specialty
organized around a site of care (the hospital) rather than an organ
(like cardiology), a disease (like oncology), or a patient’s age
(like pediatrics). Hospitalist activities can include patient care,
teaching, research, and leadership related to hospital care.
Dr. Ghazarian’s education includes medical school at the Yerevan State
Medical University in Armenia, followed by externship at The Ohio
State University in Columbus and residency at Mount Carmel Medical
Center, also in Columbus. She is board certified in internal medicine.
"We are fortunate to have a physician of Dr. Ghazarian’s caliber join
our team," LaMar Wyse, president and CEO of Galion Community Hospital,
said. "Dr. Leone has been very patient during our search for just the
right candidate. Dr. Ghazarian’s sincere desire to practice excellent
professional and compassionate care is evident. I am excited to
introduce her to our community, and to include her as part of our
GCH family."
Fluent in Russian and Armenian as well as English, Dr. Ghazarian is
considered a skilled medical interpreter. She lives in Mansfield with
her husband and two daughters.
