A member of a Turkish parliamentary delegation that has been holding a
series of talks in Washington D.C. said on Friday that the delegation
invited U.S. President Barack Obama to Turkey again.
Holding a press conference on the Turkish delegation’s talks in USA,
Cuneyt Yuksel, member of the Turkish-U.S. Inter-parliamentary
Friendship Group, said that the delegation invited Obama to the
"Alliance of Civilizations" meeting to be held in Turkey on April 6-7.
Upon a question on the criticisms claiming that Turkey’s active policy
in the Middle East damaged the country’s ties to the West, Yuksel
said, "Turkey has a clear strategic target which is full membership to
EU. Those trying to show Turkey as something else, are acting unfair".
Commenting on Turkish-Armenian relations as well, Yuksel said both
Turkish and U.S. officials expressed during the talks that the
positive atmosphere between Turkey and Armenia should be maintained.
