CSTO RRF FORMATION TO HELP ARMENIA RESIST CHALLENGES

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Collective Security Treaty Organization has
gone through a number of formation stages and the decision to form
CSTO rapid reaction force was timely, an Armenian MP said.
"After conclusion of the agreement, the CSTO member states should take
action. However, it’s hard to say how these forces will be used. We
should assess and coordinate future steps, including establishment of
united headquarters," Artur Aghabekian, head of the RA parliamentary
committee on defense, national security and internal affairs, told
a PanARMENIAN.Net.
This decision will help Armenia resist challenges, according to him.
"Armenia will probably operate collective force in case of resumption
of hostilities in Nagorno Karabakh. But it’s too early to speak of
real tasks yet," Aghabekian said.
The decision to form a CSTO rapid reaction force was taken during
the summit of SCTO heads of state in Moscow on February 4.
