Sixteen residents living near the State College of Echmiadzin made
their way to Yerevan today to demand Serzh Sargsyan to solve their
problem, but the police officers were not too welcoming. This is not
the first time that they are organizing a protest in front of the
presidential residence.

The residents demand the president to sign the contracts for the
areas conceded to them, which have not been signed to date.

"The regional council representatives told us that they don’t know
who is going to give the contracts. So, the contracts have turned
into wonderful pieces," told "A1+" one of the demonstrators Aghavni
Ghazaryan.

Another demonstrator said that they had heard that they were going
to be thrown out of their homes by the end of February and in that
case they will be out on the streets.

Demonstrators were told to go back to the regional council where head
of the region will receive them. But the demonstrators didn’t believe
that and continued to stand in front of the gate of the presidential
residency. The police officers asked them to cross the street and
then applied force.

When the police officers started pushing and shoving the demonstrators,
one of them lost consciousness and the police called an "ambulance".

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
