DISCUSSIONS IN STEPANAKERT ON FURTHER COOPERATION ON MINESWEEPING OF NKR TERRITORY

ArmInfo. Some issues regarding further cooperation on minesweeping
of the NKR territory were discussed during the meeting of Director
of the Rescue Service under the NKR government, Arsen Sarkisyan,
Chairman of the governmental Commission for the problems of mines in
the NKR territory, Mikael Gasparyan, and the leaders of The HALO Trust
British humanitarian organization headed by the programme Coordinator
Patrick Thomson.

As the Department of Information and Public Relations of the NKR
government told ArmInfo, the parties emphasized the necessity
of essential enhancement of efficiency of the authorized bodies’
activity in the mine-finding by the population. The importance of
experience exchange, information and technical assistance, as well
as coordination of actions were also emphasized.

An agreement was reached on further setting up of the joint commission
for development of mechanisms of efficient cooperation between the
Rescue Service and The HALO Trust. Representatives of the British
organization also met NKR Minister of Science and Education Vladimir
Khachatryan and discussed the problems of population protection
from mines.
