Co-Chair of the Turkey-Caucasus in the U.S. Congress Robert Wexler
believes that Congress should pay more attention to the negotiations
between Ankara and Yerevan, and the issue of the Armenian claims on
the "genocide of 1915". He told to reporters in his statement after
meetings with the President and the Prime Minister of Turkey in Ankara.
According to the Turkish agency Cihan, Wexler stressed the importance
of continuing negotiations between Turkey and Armenia to establish
normal neighborly relations between the two countries.
The representative of the U.S. Congress also noted "courageous policy"
about normalization of relations with Yerevan, the President Abdullah
Gul and Prime Minister Erdogan. "This time is very important and
should be taken into consideration by the U.S. Congress. We must do
everything possible to ensure that the efforts of the Governments of
Turkey and Armenia have achieved the desired result ", – said Wexler.
