YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 24, ARMENPRESS: "I think the highest legislative
bodies of two neighboring countries are able to do more. I hope
we will succeed in reaching a serious progress in the relations of
two parliaments for establishment and improvement of the normative
base that will support executive powers in the settlement of many
important issues",- Speaker of Georgian parliament Davit Bakradze
said delivering speech in the Armenian parliament.
He noted that they are ready to utmost support to the establishment
of efficient working relations between the two parliaments both on
the level of friendly group and commissions of corresponding sphere.
D. Bakradze also noted that within the frameworks of "Millennium
Challenges" program great sums of money are provided for restoration
of infrastructures and all the regions of the country including the
roads of southern Georgia.
With this program implementation of programs directed towards support
to small and medium-sized business including the agro business is
intended. According to the speaker of Georgian parliament, preservation
of peace and stability in South Caucasus is a precondition for the
above mentioned programs.
"In this respect cooperation between Georgia and Armenia has a great
importance. Our chief task is to protect our states from external
aggression and, unfortunately, the regulation of conflicts is the
issue which exists in Caucasus and which impedes the progressive
development of our countries",- he said.
According to D. Bakradze, today the chief task of the two states is
to establish such security guarantees which will allow protecting
the independence of our states and will give an opportunity to the
states which are in the process of construction of democracy and
civil society, to think about close regional cooperation.
"No matter in what relations we are with other neighboring and
non-neighboring countries, state and regional security interests claim
that Georgia and Armenia take into consideration the mutual interests
and preserve the partner and good-neighborly relations existing
between the two states", – Speaker of Georgian parliament pointed out.
