SAHAKASHVILI MISLEADS HIS PEOPLE TO HAVE POWER
The President of Georgia Michail Sahakashvili has made his regular
`shocking’ statement. But, in fact, the President of our neighbor
country makes public speeches and `sensational’ announcements too
often and regularly. The mission to make such announcements is to
mislead the local society. This time Sahakashvili made some statement
on Armenia in the frames of his own personal campaign.
On 7 March, during an opening presentation of a hotel complex in
Tskneti, Sahakashvili announced that Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia and
Turkey have some economic difficulties and that Georgia persists
them. `Georgia will come out of those difficulties if we keep
political stability,’ said the President and by `political stability’
he wanted to say that nobody demanded his resignation. But his
statement seemed him not enough and he marked the `privileges’ of
Georgia ` `The economy of Armenia is collapsed. It is collapsed
because it has been dependent of Russian market.’
It is obvious that the President of our neighbor country wants to
protect his own power and to create the feeling of necessity in the
society. Any word or term used by him has its own mission. It is
important to mention that the decision of Armenian authorities to pass
to `flexible exchange rate regime’ and the short term panic have been
characterized as `collapse of Armenian economy’ by Sahakashvili.
Of course, there will be some people in Georgia to think under the
pressure of the official campaign that Armenia is collapsed and that
Georgia is a prosperous country. But, it is obvious that the situation
in Armenia is being stabilized and that the processes are under state
control and those changes have been recognized by different
international organizations.
Why does Sahakashvili use Armenia as an example to protect his power?
We think that Sahakashvili needs to solve some political problems `
A. To justify the losses of the local economy after the conflict with
Russia wanting to prove that Russia would not be a safe partner to
help Georgia; B. to show that Georgia managed to escape the impact of
world economic crisis during his power and that they would manage in
the future if they keep political stability; C. to create basis to
blame the oppositional forces for the future social and in-house
tensions.
Regarding the economic and financial crisis it is important to mention
that not a single country managed to escape its impacts. It is said
with humor that only those countries which do not have economy will
manage to escape the impact of the crisis. So, Sahakashvili should
decide himself what does his country look like?
