Yerevan to promote contacts with NATO – Armenian ministry
YEREVAN March 13
Armenia plans to accelerate the pace of its cooperation with NATO,
Director of the Armenian Foreign Ministry’s department for NATO issues
Arman Israelian said at a conference on Friday.
"Cooperation with NATO is viewed as an important component of
Armenia’s foreign policy. And we intend to speed up the pace of
cooperation with NATO," Israelian said.
Military reforms in the republic should be conducted as part of
cooperation with the alliance, he said.
U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie L. Yovanovitch told the same
conference that NATO is open to countries that have political will and
are ready to cooperate as part of their Individual Partnership Action
Plan. The U.S. diplomat said she greatly appreciates Armenia’s serious
approach to cooperation with the alliance.
