ARMENIAN NATIONAL CONGRESS: "GAGIK JHANGIRIAN’S LIFE IS ENDANGERED"

YEREVAN, MARCH 16, NOYAN TAPAN. According to the statement of the
Armenian National Congress (ANC), "on March 13, at the end of a regular
court sitting on the case of political prisoner Gagik Jhangirian,
after he stated that his speech will differ from the lawyers’ speech
and will be original, he, in essence, illegally, with the violation
of the decision of the body carrying out examination was kidnapped by
the Police and instead of the Vardashen penitentiary institution was
taken to the isolator of the National Security Service." ANC does
not exclude that this action following Jhangirian’s statement is
connected with the circumstance that G. Jhangirian as a prosecutor
for a long time conducted the October 27 case. "We consider that
Gagik Jhangirian’s life is in danger, we demand immediately returning
him to the Vardashen penitentiary institution and giving an official
explanation concerning the illegal action," the ANC statement read.
