Seven Railway Cars With Gold Ore Come Off Rails In Armenia

SEVEN RAILWAY CARS WITH GOLD ORE COME OFF RAILS IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, March 17. /ARKA/. Yesterday seven railway cars with gold ore
ran off the rails in Armenia at Hrazdan-Solak section of the railway
in Armenia at about 23:40, the Press Service of the South Caucasus
Railroad reported.

Currently the transportation at the section is suspended. The reason
for derail was malfunction at the road, the transportation service
of the South Caucasus Railroad closed joint stock company reported.

Repair works are being carried out, says the report.

Traffic is expected to be resumed at Hrazdan-Solak section within
two days.

South Caucasus Railroad fully owned by the Russian Railways is the
concession management operator of the Armenian Railways under a
30-year concession agreement signed on February 13 2008.

The Armenian Railways Company is in charge of 805 km of Armenia’s
1,125-km-long railways. Since 2001, the company has been operating at
a profit. 3mln tons of cargoes were transported through the Armenian
Railways in 2007 against 2.7mln tons in 2006.
