ArmInfo. The necessary preparations for supply of Armenian electric
power to Turkey will be completed in April 2009, Armenian Minister
for Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan told media Friday.

He said unfavorable weather hinders the project. After the energy
system of Turkey is regulated, electricity supply to that country
will be launched, the minister said, probably in April 2009. The
minister did not rule out the possible rise of Armenian electricity
tariff for Turkey due to the rise of the Russian gas tariff in Armenia.

Earlier, Director of High-voltage Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC
Sahak Abrahamyan told ArmInfo the Turkish party is not ready to
receive Armenian electric power for some technical reasons, though
a preliminary agreement with Turkish UNIT Company implied electric
power supply to Turkey starting March 1. UNIT was to restore the power
transmission lines Kars via territory of Turkey within 6 months (by
early March) as well as to get a relevant license. The contract of the
Armenian Government and UNIT Company was signed in September 2008. At
the first stage Armenia was to supply 1.5 billion kWh electric power
to Turkey annually. In future, the supply was to be increased to 3.5
billion kWh. Armenia supplied electric power to Turkey for the last
time in Soviet period.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
