"The project of construction of a new nuclear power plant in Armenia
will be realized through an open, transparent competition corresponding
to international standards, and any country can participate, including
Turkey, Minister of Enery and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan said
during the recurrent sitting of the Ministers of Energy of the Black
Sea Economic Cooperation Organization in Yerevan.
The Minister said Turkey has not yet officially applied to Armenia.
"There has been a discussion and a corresponding decision has been
made.
Everyone can participate in the construction of our nuclear power
plant," Armen Movsisyan said.
According to a preliminary agreement, our country had to start selling
electricity to Turkey from April 1, 2009. "The contract exists,
but the works may have not been completed by April 1st because of
weather and technical reasons," the Minister underlined. The price of
electricity has not been fixed yet. "The price will change depending
on the price of gas," Armen Movsisyan noted.
