ARKA
March 26, 2009

YEREVAN, March 26. /ARKA/. The RA Commission for Protection of Economic
Competition will cooperate with the World Bank (WB).

The Commission’s press service reports that Commission Chairman Ashot
Shahnazaryan held a meeting with Michael Edwards, WB Europe and Central
Asia Section. Mr. Edwards reported that the WB made a decision in
principle to implement a program of cooperation with the Commission.

He pointed out that during his stay in Armenia for a few days he has
got the impression that the RA Commission for Protection of Economic
Competition is receiving assistance at a new level.

Shahnazaryan, in turn, stated that the Commission has strengthened
its role in supervising the market situation after the floating
rate regime was re-established and successful measures to establish
stability were implemented. Mr. Edwards informed Shahnazaryan of the
fields the WB and the Commission will be cooperating in.

As regards other fields of cooperation, an international expert has
been employed to hold consultations on further amendments to the RA
Law on Protection of Economic Competition this April.
