Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan issued a
congratulatory message on the occasion of the World Theater Day. The
message reads:

"I warmly congratulate the theatrical figures of Armenia and theatre
lovers on World Theater Day.

Having a history of two millennia, the Armenian theatre has played a
great role Armenian peoples’ spiritual-cultural and social life. The
true characters created by the theatre devotees everlastingly live in
the memory of the generations, bring up them with the bright ideas
of beauty, justice and patriotism. Today, the continuity of the
best traditions of the Armenian theatre is important for retaining
the uniqueness of the national culture and spiritual progress of
the society.

I congratulate once again all devotees of dramatic art and wish them
health, happiness, creative rise and success in their appreciative
work."

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
