GERMAN FEDERAL FOREIGN OFFICE MINISTER OF STATE: OPENING OF THE TURKISH-ARMENIAN BORDER IN FAVOR OF BOTH THE STATES

ArmInfo. Opening the border and establishing diplomatic ties is
in favor of both Armenia and Turkey especially in conditions of the
present global economic crisis, German Federal Foreign Office Minister
of State Gernot Erler said at a joint press conference with Deputy
Foreign Minister of Armenia Karine Ghazinyan Monday.

G. Erler said Germany has always supported and will always support this
process and hopes it will be a success both for Armenia and Turkey.

For her part, Karine Ghazinyan called existence of close borders in
the 21st century unusual. ‘Many neighbor-countries have problems and
disagreements, but they negotiate and settle their problems via a
dialogue. Now Armenia and Turkey are on this path and the existing
problems can be discussed and settled after opening the border and
establishing diplomatic relations’, she said.
