YEREVAN, MARCH 30, ARMENPRESS: The German government expresses its
support to the political process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict
regulation, meetings between the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents,
efforts directed towards the regulation of the issue, German State
Secretary of the Foreign Ministry Gernot Erler said today at a joint
press conference with the Armenian deputy foreign minister Karine
Ghazinian, informing that during the meeting with the Minister Edward
Nalbandian they discussed also issues on the current round of the
Karabakh conflict regulation.
"Together with the Armenian foreign minister we came to a common
agreement that it is necessary to exclude any military solution
within the frameworks of Karabakh conflict. We also registered that
the attempts made for several years based on two main principles
of international right – territorial integrity and people’s
self-determination – are not so effective and it is necessary
to display more practical approaches during the negotiations for
overcoming the two contradicting principles and finding new solutions,"
G. Erler said. According to him, it is necessary to reach solution
through negotiations and mutual concessions.
