The president of the Yerevan Media Club Boris Navasardyan,
addressing the conference "Millennium Challenges Account Armenia
project implementation perspectives", dwelt on the reforms of the
information sphere. The 4 main points which are able to promote the
reforms of this field are freedom of the TV and radio regulatory body,
bringing the Public TV and Radio in the tax field, fair competitions
for frequencies and possibilities for the TV to take part in them. "In
the package of the drafts existing in December and today too, there is
no serious change in connection with the points which I underscored,"
said the president of the Yerevan Media club and conclude that "this
is a step made by the government aimed at the total control of the
TV broadcast". Boris Navasardyan noted that the European experts did
not pay attention to a series of fundamental questions, as if having
the goal to make a favour and not to offend the authors of the law,
but at the same time they harmed Armenia. He noted that we have to
draw the stake ourselves in order to make reforms and gain success
in the other fields.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
