Armenian banks provided loans worth 9.2 bln AMD and $12.4 mln last week

ArmInfo. Last week (March 30-April 5) Armenian banks provided loans
worth 9.2 bln AMD and $12.4 mln, the press-service of the Central Bank
of Armenia told ArmInfo.
According to the source, over the current week (April 6-10) the banks
bought $35.491 mln at the average exchange rate of 371,68 AMD/$1 and
sold $38.268 mln at the average exchange rate of 374,11 AMD/$1 in the
intrabank currency market. In the interbank currency market the banks
carried out no operations on currency purchase and sales on April 6-10.
Over the given period, no operations on currency purchase and sales
were carried out in NASDAQ OMX Armenia either.
Over the period from March 2 till April 5 the banks provided loans
worth 41.3 bln AMD and $61.4 mln. In the intrabank market the banks
bought $168.024 mln on March 16-April 10, the average exchange rate
growing by 0,4%, and sold $195.742 mln, the average exchange rate
falling by 0,2%. In the interbank currency market no operations on
currency purchase and sales were carried out on April 3-10 inclusive,
and on March 9-April 3 the volume of operations amounted to $186.492
mln, and the average exchange rate fell by 0.2% .
In NASDAQ OMX Armenia operations on currency purchase and sales worth
$36.760 mln were carried out on March 9-April 3, the average exchange
rate falling by 0.1%. According to the data of NASDAQ OMX Armenia, over
the period from March 26 till April 10, currency operations were
carried out only on March 30, and their volume amounted to $100 thsd.
For this reason the volume of USD transactions in the stock exchange
decreased by 99,4% on March 9-April3.
To note, as of 1 Jan 2009 the summary credit portfolio of Armenian
commercial banks exceeded $2 bln, having increased in 2008 by 51,3%.
Provision of crediting of the banking system was over 62%.
