A joint conference organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social
Issues, the UN , World Bank and International Monetary Fund Armenia
Offices on Social Impact of the Global Economic Crisis on Armenia and
Ways to Offset this Impact on the Crisis will take place on 14 April,

The Conference focuses on the adverse impact the ongoing global

devising solutions that will draw together all stakeholders, including
international organizations, private sector and the civil society. In
addition, the UN in Armenia is in the process of tailoring its current
programs to address the needs of those most affected by the crisis.

Participants of the event are: Ms. Consuelo Vidal, UN Resident
Coordinator, Mr. Tigran Sargsyan, Prime Minister of Armenia, Mr. Arsen
Hambartsumyan, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Mr. Aristomene
Varoudakis, WB Country Office Manager, Ms. Nienke Oomes, IMF Resident
Representative, Ms. Laylee Moshiri-Gilani, UNICEF Representative and
Ms. Elizabeth Danielyan, WHO Head of Office.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
