GOVERNMENT APPROVES THE 2009 PROGRAM OF STATE SUPPORT TO GYUMRI TECHNO PARK

Yerevan, April 14, Noyan Tapan. The Government of Armenia approved
the 2009 Program of state support to the work of Gyumry Techno Park on
April 9 sitting. As the minister of economy Nerses Eritsian mentioned,
this year 80 million AMD are envisaged from the state budget for the
operation of Techno Park.

According to the minister, the implementation of the program will
deepen the confidence of either the government or private investors. In
the fringes of the program, it is projected to create a management
team to work both with with the Government and investors, told
Eritsian. Reminding, that in 2008 two laboratories were established
at Gyumri’s Branch of the State Engineering University of Armenia,
he informed about another seeral learning and research laboratories
to be created at Techno Park.

A number of activities are related to research and development projects
and possibly be supported through grants from public and private
sectors. In 2008 three similar projects were financed, told N.Eritsian.

The program intends to establish a foundation, which will enable to
realize new ideas and business projects, told the minister. Through
the foundation students will receive financial aid to continue their
education or internship in other countries. This will be implemented
jointly with some European or US university.

As he mentioned, banks of South Asia, as well as other private
investors became interested in Gyumri Techno Park.

As the prime minister Tigran Sargsian mentioned, closer cooperation
with private investors is required within a period of program
implementation.

"Our goal is to have investments as much as possible, including from
private sector".
