ISTANBUL – Turkish and European producers, directors and screenwriters
will come together for the fourth time April 15 and 16 in the "Meetings
on the Bridge" seminar series as part of the 28th International
Istanbul Film Festival.

The latest installment of the annual and much-anticipated discussion
forum will begin April 15 with a presentation from the education
and development center ACE about the World Cinema Fund and other
joint-venture projects. Representatives from the films "The Match
Factory" and "Zanzibar" will make an appearance at the afternoon
session. On April 16, a Turkish-Armenian cinema panel will discuss the
Israeli Film Fund, the Sarajevo Film Festival and other topics. Various
Armenian and Turkish representatives from these organizations will
participate in the debate.

In addition to the panels, there will also be a feature-film workshop
organized on the first day of the forum. Projects eligible to take
part in the workshop will be chosen by a selection committee comprised
of producer Nida Karabol, directors YeÅ~_im Ustaoglu and Umit Unal
and production adviser Isabelle Fauvel. The aim of the workshop is
to provide filmmakers with an international platform where they can
present their projects and find the support they need to initiate
the production process.

On the second day, the "From Screenplay to the Audience" sessions
will address screenplay development, financing and distribution. The
speakers on the second day will include Ido Abram from Binger Filmlab,
Amra Baksic from Cinelink, Sonja Heinen from EFM and Thibaud Bracq
from the Paris Project. The participation fee for these seminars,
which will be open only to European and Turkish film professionals,
is 50 Turkish Liras. Simultaneous translation in English and Turkish
will be provided at all sessions.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
