Yerevan (Yerkir) – ARF Bureau’s Hay Dat and Political Affairs Office
director Kiro Manoyan has said that Azerbaijan’s position forces Turkey
to return to the situation of 1993. Manoyan told a news conference on
April 13 that Turkish PM Erdogan’s tough-worded statement may stalemate
the Armenian-Turkish dialogue because, as the Armenian president has
said, Armenia is ready for relations without preconditions. Turkey,
in turn, has begun to put forward conditions. Manoyan thinks that
the parties would hardly sign an agreement on establishing diplomatic
relations and open the border.
Speaking on the Armenian genocide issue, Manoyan said he was sure US
President Obama will stick to his promise on April 24 because if he
doesn’t, there will be a great disappointment in him. The recognition
of the genocide may affect the US-Turkish relations but it would last
only temporarily.
