ILHAM ALIYEV DETAILS THE RESOLUTION OF THE PROGRESS

The Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev, in his interview with the
"Vesti" TV news program, and Itar-Tass news agency, stated that the
question on the Nagorno-Karabakh status may be prolonged for some
unknown time.
According to him, Azerbaijani stance includes "the security of
those people living now in Karabakh and who will live there, the
local self-government of Nagorno-Karabakh and the restoration of
Azerbaijani territorial integrity questions".
"There can’t be a unilateral solution to the Karabakhi
status. Azerbaijan does not see and would never participate
in a process which would suppose a legislative separation from
Karabakh. This is our firm stance", stated Ilham Aliyev. He said that
the withdrawal of the Armenian forces from the security area should
be achieved, phase after phase. Aliyev stated that the question cannot
be settled out of the international framework.
"We understand the importance of the land connection between Armenia
and Karabakh. In this case we don’t see any problem. The question on
the Lachin corridor may be solved in a way not to cause worry for the
people living in Nagorno-Karabakh and for the Azerbaijani population
which will return there after the settlement", stated Ilham Aliyev.
