INSURANCE COOPERATION WITH ARMENIA

Head of Central Insurance of Iran Javad Farshbaf-Maherian and Chairman
of Central Bank of Armenia Arthur Javadian signed a cooperation deal
on insurance.
The deal was signed in the presence of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
and his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sarkisian on April 14, Fars News
Agency reported.
It aims to promote bilateral cooperation in the field.
Sarkisian visited Tehran during April 13-14 and signed 8 memoranda
of understanding (MoU) and a joint statement during the period.
The agreement includes cooperation on rail transportation and
construction of Iran-Armenia direct railroad, investment on building
Aras hydro plant and building a pipeline for petrochemical products
transport.
The MoUs also involved close cooperation on energy, banking and
insurance.
During the meeting with Ahmadinejad in Tehran on Monday, the Armenian
president called for boosting mutual relations in all spheres,
appreciating Tehran’s support for his country’s all-out development.
The two sides said the growing bilateral cooperation needs to be
strengthened and that global conditions make it necessary for the
two neighbors to enhance their level of cooperation.
