JOINT STATEMENT OF THE MINISTRIES OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF
ARMENIA, THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY AND THE SWISS FEDERAL DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN
AFFAIRS

Turkey and Armenia, together with Switzerland as mediator, have been working
intensively with a view to normalizing their bilateral relations and
developing them in a spirit of good-neighborliness, and mutual respect, and
thus to promoting peace, security and stability in the whole region.

The two parties have achieved tangible progress and mutual understanding in
this process and they have agreed on a comprehensive framework for the
normalization of their bilateral relations in a mutually satisfactory
manner. In this context, a road-map has been identified.

This agreed basis provides a positive prospect for the on-going process.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
