Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Competition between the mediators on
Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Garabagh conflict is increasing. In answer
to Russian leader Dmitry Medvedev’s meetings with his Azerbaijani and
Armenian counterparts, Ilham Aliyev and Serzh Sargsyan respectively,
held with less-than-a-week interval the United States secretary of
state Hillary Clinton made a statement about a possibility of progress
achievement in Garabagh conflict negotiations in the near future.

Yesterday in Baku Matthew Braiza, US co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group,
said that Garabagh conflict settlement could be achieved for the next
few months.

"Actually it is possible to solve this matter for the next few
months. I don’t know how much time it will take – 10 months, a year or
can be less. It depends on thre course of negotiations and political
will," Mr. Braiza said.

He added that the main purpose of the mediators was to use all
diplomatic means for signing of a framework agreement on basic
principles of conflict settlement.

For the last two months this is the fourth Baku visit of Mr. Braiza
that testifies of mediators’ activity.

The conflict following which Armenia has occupied 20% of Azerbaijani
territory has been in ceasefire regime since May 1994.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
