Presidents of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev conformed
their readiness to meet in Prague May 7, OSCE Minsk group co-chairs
Yuri Merzlyakov (Russia), Bernard Fassier (France) and Matthew Bryza
(USA) stated today at a press conference in Yerevan, assessing their
current visit to Yerevan and Baku as rich and full. The co-chairs
did not visit Stepanakert because of unfavorable weather, instead
they had a phone conversation with the NKR President Bako Sahakian.
French co-chair said that quite a long work was carried out for the
organization of the coming meeting of the presidents and expressed
hope that the Prague meeting will be constructive and useful just as
the previous three meetings of the presidents.
US co-chair Matthew Bryza added that there are new opportunities for
reaching the solution faster and the co-chairs will do their best
to promote it. According to him, waiting for the regulation of the
conflict during the coming few months is realistic.
Russian co-chair Yuri Merzlyakov said that there are grounds for
moving the process forward and the sides too see them.
"Taking into consideration the statements of parties there are
serious hopes which give hint that the Prague meeting may be extremely
important and constructive," French co-chair Bernard Fassier said,
informing that the two presidents were suggested to have another
meeting after Prague – in Saint Petersburg in June, but the sides
have not yet confirmed it.
