The statement issued recently by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs
of Armenia and Turkey is the result of efforts for normalization of
relations between the two countries, Armenian President said.

"In the foreseeable future we will make public the document signed. And
I am confident that it will be approved by our people," Serzh Sargsyan
said during a meeting of the RA National Security Council. "Our
approach is clear: there should be no closed borders in the 21st
century."

As to the Karabakh conflict, President Sargsyan said, "I would like
to repeat the Karabakh issue was never discussed during talks with
Turkey. Improvement of Armenian-Turkish relations may have positive
impact on the conflict resolution but it can’t be a prerequisite."

He also opposed the opinion that signature of the Armenian-Turkish
agreement on road map will hamper the process of international
recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
