Ankara – APA. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his
televised speech addressed to the nation touched on the talks carried
out with Armenia and relations with Azerbaijan, APA reports.
Erdogan said that talks on the normalization of the relations with
Armenia were one of the important issues of Turkey’s diplomacy
in April.
"Unfortunately, Turkey’s efforts to ensure regional peace were
misrepresented and there were some attempts to damage the love between
Turkey and Azerbaijan. All through the history and during our ruling
Turkey has treated Azerbaijan brotherly. Turkey can not put forth
an initiative that may harm Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani government
and people. Turkey has never preferred its rights and interests to
Azerbaijan’s rights and interests and always defended Azerbaijan’s
interests within its power. The efforts to normalize Turkey-Armenia
relations aim to ensure peace and stability in the region and eliminate
the consequences of the armed conflicts. No one, especially our Azeri
brothers should doubt it. I told it to Azerbaijani Defense Minister,
honorable Safar Abiyev whom we have hosted this week," he said.
