UN: OSCE MG reaffirms support for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The OSCE Minsk Group has declared support for
Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, calling on its government for a
more constructive dialogue with Armenia, UN Secretary General Ban
Ki-moon stated in his report titled "The situation in the occupied
territories of Azerbaijan", which was submitted to consideration of
the UN General Assembly.
The report is based on the letters issued by the OSCE MG Co-chairs and
by several other UN member states with proposals for resolution of the
Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
In March 2008 the UN General Assembly in its resolution 62/243 called
on member states and international and regional organizations to make
an effective contribution to the process of the conflict
resolution. It requested the Secretary-General to present a
comprehensive report on the implementation of this resolution at the
63rd session.
The UN Secretary General’s report says that according to the OSCE
Minsk Group co-chairs the General Assembly resolution 62/243 is
selectively propagating only some of the earlier suggested principles
of conflict resolution.
"This lack of balance has forced our countries to vote against this
resolution, to our great regret. Nevertheless, during the explanation
of motives and again today, we reaffirm our support for the
territorial integrity of Azerbaijan,’ says the letter the OSCE Minsk
Group addressed the UN.
The United States, Russia and France declared that "the most effective
way, with which Azerbaijan can regain its territorial integrity, is a
continuation of the increasingly constructive dialogue with Armenia"
in order to complete the basic principles that the Co-chairs suggested
the two sides in Madrid, the UN news center reported.
