On April 21 thirty non-governmental organizations sent a letter to
the leadership of the VTB Bank, asking to suspend the financing of the
program of exploitation of Teghut mine for a while until international
experts publicize their conclusion. The authors of the letter have
not received any response so far.

Today’s act of protest at the VTB Bank was a recurrent attempt to
draw attention to the issue. "Keep away from Teghut," the young
protesters were shouting. Head of the Advertisement and Public
Relations Department of the VTB Bank Alexander Avetisyan came out to
listen to the protestors and answer their questions.

"VTB is an affiliate bank in Armenia, while contracts are always
concluded with the mother bank, not the affiliate. We have no
information from the mother bank, therefore, we can provide no
information whether the financing will suspend the financing or not,"
Alexander Avetisyan said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
