Washington. Zaur Hasanov – APA. Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar
Mammadyarov held first meeting within his visit to Washington with
State Department Special Representative for Eurasian Energy Affairs
Richard Morningstar.

Elmar Mammadyarov told APA US bureau they discussed the interesting
points of the South Corridor Summit in Prague on May 8 attended by
President Ilham Aliyev and US energy policy in the region.

Speaking about the ideas that Nagorny Karabakh conflict will be
resolved in the next few months, Elmar Mammadyarov said: "It is
difficult to say it now. First of all, it is important what position
will Armenia take in the negotiations. We have to know whether they
really want serious peace and progress in the negotiations or not. We
will know that in Prague. The issue will become completely clear
after the co-chairs’ visit to the region".

The minister said they analyzed situation again because of Turkey’s
involving in the last developments in the region and Araz Azimov met
with Turkey’s new foreign minister Davud Ahmetoglu.

Mammadyarov said he would discuss the Nagorny Karabakh conflict with
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
