Regarding yesterday’s review hearing in a Tbilisi court regarding
the refusal to allow French attorney Patrick Srabian to be register
as Vahagn Chakhalyan’s defense lawyer, the "Yerkir Union" noted that
the hearing ended without result.

The "Yerkir" statement reports that the judge reviewed the documents
submitted, accepted the motion and pronounced the court case to be
opened. Immediately afterwards, the judge ordered that the case be
postponed until May 29.

In its statement, the "Yerkir Union" claims that the Georgian
authorities have adopted a tactic of delay regarding Mr. Arabian’s
registration but that the attorney had already assumed the defense
of Vahagn Chakhalyan and intends to take the case to any and all
international tribunals, including the European Court of Human Rights
if necessary.

The statement goes on to say that the "Yerkir Union" is disappointed
that the Georgian authorities haven’t carried out the promise made
by the Georgian Ambassador to France that Mr. Arabian’s registration
would be enacted.
