YEREVAN, MAY 11, ARMENPRESS: US co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group
Matthew Bryza said in an interview to "Echo of Moscow" radio station
that "Nagorno Karabakh and its nearby territories will one by one be
returned to Azerbaijan". Spokesman for the Armenian Republican Party,
member of parliament Eduard Sharmazanov, commenting with the request
of Armenpress on this statement, said; "I am far from believing that
the US co-chair made such a statement as only a person who does not
want peaceful regulation of the conflict would make such an ungrounded,
unbalanced statement."

While, according to Sharmazanov, the United States, as an OSCE Minsk
group co-chairing country, has exerted serious efforts during the
whole negotiation process for the peaceful regulation of the conflict.

"And if Bryza have really made such a statement, it is not clear
basing on what he did it as it is obvious that Nagorno Karabakh
can never be part of Azerbaijan, and the core of the regulation
process is the status of Nagorno Karabakh about which the Armenian
side has always stated. Nagorno Karabakh has never been part of
independent Azerbaijan. People of Nagorno Karabakh used their right
to self-determination according to all the international norms, and
as a result of military aggression by Azerbaijan they defended their
right and created security guarantees. Today too people of Nagorno
Karabakh successfully build their statehood, create their democratic
institutions," Eduard Sharmazanov stated.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
