The first of two Eurovision semifinals will start on Tuesday at
Moscow’s Olimpiisky Indoor Arena, RIA Novosti reports.
A total of 42 countries are taking part in the competition, which
officially opened on Sunday, with 25 of them going through to the
final.
Russia along with the so called Big Four – Germany, the U.K., France
and Spain – have already qualified.
During the first semifinal, nine finalists will be selected in an
SMS vote with one being chosen by the jury.
A total of 18 countries will be trying to get through to the final (in
order of appearance): Montenegro, Czech Republic, Belgium, Belarus,
Sweden, Armenia, Andorra, Switzerland, Turkey, Israel, Bulgaria,
Iceland, Macedonia, Romania, Finland, Portugal, Malta and Bosnia
and Herzegovina.
This year Armenia will be represented by sisters Inga and Anush. They
will perform in dark blue coats with black collars and braids attached
to them as well as artfully designed hats, according to the official
website of the Eurovision.
The pedestal, on which big parts of the stage act take place, is the
center of the whole performance. In the background, the LEDs show
ornaments and symbols mainly in green and pink.
To add to the excitement, smoke effects and pyrotechnics creating
vertical flames are used. Towards the end of the song, the dancers
activate gadgets in their hands, sending out green laser rays that
are being reflected by the stage floor.
