HIS HOLINESS ARAM I RECEIVES JASON T. KENNEY
Queen’s Privy Council for Canada (QPC), Member of Parliament current
Minister of Citizenship,
Immigration and Multiculturalism of Canada

On Friday 15 May 2009 in the evening, immediately after his arrival in
Beirut, His Excellency Jason T. Kenney visited His Holiness Aram I. The
Director of the Minister’s office and the Ambassador of Canada to Lebanon
accompanied the guest. The meeting lasted over an hour and conversations
focused on the situation in Lebanon, particularly that of the Armenian
community and Christian-Muslim relations in the Middle East. The Catholicos
and the visitors also discussed the state of affairs of Armenians in Canada.
After clarifying certain aspects of the issues under discussion, His
Holiness Aram I spoke of the Armenian Genocide and its recognition.

At the end of the visit, the Minister informed His Holiness that after

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
