Baku – APA. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov
received the State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
Slovakia Mrs. Olga Algayerova.

The State Secretary said she visited Baku to learn the opportunities
for extension of cooperation, press service of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs told APA. The guest said she hoped that the opening
of Azerbaijan’s honorable consulate in Bratislava, development of
normative-legal basis between the two countries, determination of
opportunities for the extensions of cooperation in energy and other
sectors would contribute to the development of relations.

She said the number of Slovakian companies was involved in the
transport-infrastructure projects in Azerbaijan and the business forum
would be useful for further development of economic relations. She
said Slovakia intended to develop relations with Azerbaijan within
the Eastern Partnership Program and proposals of Azerbaijan on this
issue were interesting for them.

Mammadyarov highly appreciated the interest of Slovakia to Azerbaijan
and said it was mutual. The minister shared the opinion of Slovakian
State Secretary on the extension of relations and stressed the
importance of cooperation between the diplomatic academies of the two
countries and exchange of cultural days. Mammadyarov said Azerbaijan
was interested in the Eastern Partnership Program toward the close
cooperation in the security, economic and humanitarian fields. He
underlined the settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorny
Karabakh as the main issue of security and said that the regional
stability and security was impossible without the settlement of this
conflict. He said the settlement of the conflict would open the
new opportunities for the region and informed the guest about the
Azerbaijani position in the conflict settlement in detail.
